“There are over 5,000 homes in Vancouver for sale for over $1 million. Entire USA? = only 7000 SOLD over $1 Million)
In comparison, in April, just over 7,000 homes sold in the entire US (135 times the population) for over $1 million.”
“There are currently over 5,000 homes in Vancouver metro area for sale for over $1 million according to MLS.ca.
In comparison, the NAR reports that in April, just over 7,000 homes sold in the entire US were sold for over $1 million.
And this despite the fact that the US population is 135 X’s greater than the Metro Vancouver market, the average personal disposable income in the US is 20% higher than the Vancouver average ($37,100 vs. $30,800) while US per capita GDP is higher than the average for all of BC.”
This is part of a larger article…..but it is incredible in the simple context.
Vancouver ie if the reference is to “City of Vancouver” has over 5,000 houses for sale OVER $1 MILLION aka ” asking price “
Vancouver has a population of approx 600,000. If the reference is Greater Vancouver, assume a population of approx. 2 Million people
The US has a population of over 300,000,000, and only 7,000 homes actually “SOLD” for $1 Million. That sample base would obviously include any all Movie Star Mansions, Billionaires lairs in Florida….NYC /Wall Street Moguls….aka only a tiny fraction of the US population were able to buy anything over $ 1 Million.
Vancouver’s has its attractions, most highly rated are the mountains and the oceans, not much that people can take credit for. All sizzle..not much steak. Really, wouldn’t California…..Florida , Hawaii etc. be more attractive weather wise/natural environment ?
I was born and raised here, and have travelled elsewhere, but in hindsight, there really is nothing special about BC. We have become an overrated “World Cl-ASS” city, a dysfunctional money – laundering dump…..we bit the poisoned apple……..that will within a few years end up a 3rd world economy .
