  • COPENHAGEN, DENMARK, June 7, 2012, ( –  The nation of Denmark has voted to force churches in the established Evangelical Lutheran Church to perform same-sex “marriage” ceremonies inside their sanctuaries, although one-third of all the denomination’s priests say they will not participate in such rituals.

Danish parliament voted by an overwhelming 85-24 margin to compel churches to carry out unions for same-sex couples that are identical to heterosexual marriage celebrations.

The law takes effect June 15.

Since 1997, homosexuals have been able to get “married” in a blessing ceremony after the normal church service.

Under the new law, priests may opt out of performing the “wedding” service for theological reasons.  However, a bishop must arrange for a replacement.

Click “like” if you want to defend true marriage.

The bill’s prime sponsor – Denmark’s church minister Manu Sareen, who is an agnostic – called the vote “historic.”

“I think it’s very important to give all members of the church the possibility to get married,” he said.

The Danish People’s Party opposed the legislation. “Marriage is as old as man himself, and you can’t change something as fundamental,” said Christian Langballe, the party’s church spokesperson.

Former politician Stig Elling said it was “positive” that “there are so many priests and bishops who are in favour of it.”

“We have moved forward,” he said. “It’s 2012.”

The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Denmark has been Denmark’s official state church since 1849.

The passage of the Danish bill comes as pro-family activists the world over are warning that the homosexualist agenda is threatening the basic freedoms of religious believers all across the West.

Although the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution prohibits the government from dictating church doctrine, religious institutions have already been subjected to government censure or private lawsuits if they refuse to allow homosexual couples to rent their facilities for a ceremony that deeply offends the church’s core doctrines of marriage and family.

The city of Hutchinson, Kansas, recently adopted a non-discrimination statute that would require houses of worship that rent their facilities to the public to allow same-sex “marriages” on the premises.

“If a church has a parish hall that they rent out to the general public, they could not discriminate against a gay couple who want to rent the building for a party” such as a same-sex ceremony or reception, according to a city FAQ about the ordinance.

Jacksonville, Florida, is currently considering a similar ordinance.

In January, Judge Solomon Metzger ruled a New Jersey Christian retreat house affiliated with the United Methodist Church could not refuse to rent its premises out for a homosexual “wedding.”

Again, another example of the NON Separation of Church and State. This really has nothing to do with Gov’t protecting Civil Rights. That is simply a Trojan Horse in order to dilute down Churches, mostly Christian, as they tend to be a perceived as a threat to Gov’t. In essence, Gov’t wants it all…Communism …it does not respect religion and would work to extinguish it .
What the strategy is(and this is already happening)is it fractures the given church, people take sides and many will leave the church..the old divide and conquer.
IMHO, there is no false advertising. Long established religions do not have Gay Marriage as part of their belief system. If one’s personal belief system and another belief system is incompatible…that’s life. Why is religion attacked? This basically turns into subjective and relativity arguments that could go much further beyond religion, or is religion actually the last bastion of “free will”  to prevent Big Brother have choices now….so far…but… the future?

Study Assesses How Many Gays Marry if Legal

NEW YORK — A new study attempts to gauge the percentage of gays and lesbians who have chosen to marry in places where that option is legal, with estimates ranging from as little as 2 percent to more than 16 percent, depending on the location.

A co-author of the report, released Wednesday, said both sides in the gay marriage debate may take heart from the findings.

The Institute for Marriage and Public Policy, which opposes gay marriage, reviewed data from the Netherlands, Belgium, Canada and Massachusetts, all of which allow same-sex partners to wed.

In each case, the study offered a range of estimates of the percentage of gays who had married, based on varying approximations — from 1 percent to 5 percent — of how many gays were in the general population.

In the Netherlands, where 8,127 same-sex couples married from April 1, 2001, through last December, the study said this represented between 2.6 percent and 6.3 percent of the country’s gays and lesbians.

The study estimated that between 2 percent and 5 percent of Belgium’s gays and lesbians, and 5.9 percent to 16.7 percent of those in Massachusetts had married.  Same-sex marriage became legal in Massachusetts in May 2004, and 7,341 gay and lesbian couples had wed there through last December.

The institute study said calculations for Canada were difficult because the country allowed nonresidents to marry, but it estimated that as many as 14.3 percent of the gays and lesbians in the western province of British Columbia had married.

Clearly, given the choice, the vast majority of Gay people do NOT marry. The % of the population that is gay is estimated at 10%(which is debatable). Regardless, doing the math, Gay people that wish to “marry” is a very small minority of the total population.
Gov’t is playing all sides for fools with its own agenda, as neither side is really gaining anything.
